Despite the Israeli military’s announcement on Sunday of a daily “pause” in fighting to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid in southern Gaza, residents and medical workers reported that Israeli attacks continued on Monday.
At least 17 Palestinians were killed overnight in separate Israeli strikes on the Nuseirat refugee camp, following a night of intense Israeli bombardment in central Gaza.
In Block 3 of the Bureij camp, one person was killed and several were wounded when a house was hit. Similarly, in Nuseirat, another person was killed and multiple people were injured by Israeli warplanes, according to Al Jazeera.
Israel’s ongoing war on Gaza has resulted in 37,347 Palestinian deaths and 85,372 injuries since the October 2023 Hamas attack, which led to the deaths of 1,200 Israelis.
Additionally, the Gaza media office reported on Sunday that the number of journalists killed in Gaza due to the conflict had risen to 151. On Monday, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) stated on its social media platform X that 193 of its colleagues had been killed since the conflict began, marking the highest death toll in UN history.
Most of the fatalities among aid workers and journalists are attributed to Israeli military actions.
