In the men’s javelin throw final at the Paris Olympics 2024, held on Thursday at 11:25 pm PST (Pakistani Standard Time), Pakistani athlete Arshad Nadeem made history by winning the gold medal with a record-breaking throw of 92.97 meters, the best in the Olympics’ 118-year history. This victory ended Pakistan’s 32-year wait for an Olympic gold.
The entire nation of Pakistan was united in prayers for Arshad Nadeem’s success. Celebrations erupted in his hometown, Mian Channu, while social media across the country was flooded with congratulatory messages and photos of the newly crowned champion.
Nadeem secured his place in the final with an impressive 86.59-meter throw in the qualifying round. He competed against top athletes, including Neeraj Chopra from India, Jakub Vadlejch from Czechia, Anderson Peters from Grenada, Keshorn Walcott from Trinidad and Tobago, and others from Finland, Germany, Kenya, Moldova, and Brazil.
Pakistani cricket captain Babar Azam had wished Nadeem well, urging the nation to pray for his success. Several other cricket stars, including Shan Masood, Saud Shakeel, Naseem Shah, Sarfraz Ahmed, Shaheen Afridi, and Umar Gul, also expressed their hopes for Nadeem’s victory.
Former cricket star Waqar Younis highlighted the significance of the day for Pakistan, expressing pride in the nation’s achievement and hoping for Nadeem’s success. Misbah-ul-Haq also praised Nadeem’s remarkable achievement in reaching the final and wished him the best of luck.
