LONDON: Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have again been excluded from the royal family’s summer gathering at Balmoral Castle in Scotland. Despite King Charles continuing Queen Elizabeth’s tradition of retreating to Balmoral in late summer, Harry and his family have not been invited.
While Harry grew up visiting Balmoral, Meghan has reportedly never been there. The 50,000-acre estate, where Queen Elizabeth died in September 2022, serves as a private retreat for the royal family, featuring outdoor activities like hunting and fishing.
Since stepping back from royal duties in 2020, Harry and Meghan have lived in Montecito, California, and have not returned to the U.K. with their children since Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022. This rift, marked by public disagreements, continues to grow.
Security remains a major concern for Harry, who has been fighting to reinstate police protection for his family. Despite a positive meeting with his father in February, their communication has deteriorated, with King Charles no longer responding to Harry’s calls or letters. Harry is deeply concerned for the safety of his wife and children and has repeatedly sought his father’s help.
The issue of security has created a significant divide between Harry and King Charles, with Buckingham Palace declining to comment on security provisions. The rift also extends to Prince William, making reconciliation appear distant.
Meghan supports Harry but wishes he could move on from the lawsuits and live in the moment, according to a former employee of their Archewell Foundation.
