Pakistan: Punjab Enforces Stricter Controls on Wheat and Flour Transportation with New E-Permit System

Lahore

Under the directive of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, the Punjab Food Department has announced new regulations concerning the transportation of wheat and flour. This move is aimed at ensuring stringent monitoring of inter-provincial transportation of these essential commodities.

The newly issued notification specifies that deliveries of wheat and flour will strictly require an e-permit, as enforced by the Punjab Food Department. Only the respective District Food Controllers are authorized to issue these e-permits. Furthermore, QR-coded e-permits will be provided exclusively to licensed traders and dealers. Flour mills are instructed to submit their details via the Punjab Food Department’s e-portal. Permissions will be granted upon scanning the e-permits at designated posts in border areas. Additionally, the concerned Deputy Director is tasked with preparing a detailed daily emission report.

These measures are part of the Punjab government’s commitment to regulating the supply chain and preventing unauthorized transportation of wheat and flour.
