Bollywood actor Kajol celebrated 32 years in the film industry on Wednesday. To mark this milestone, the 49-year-old shared a video from the mahurat shot of her debut film, Bekhudi. Interestingly, the clip features Saif Ali Khan, who was initially cast as the male lead before being replaced by Kamal Sadanah. The video, showing a young Kajol and Saif dancing on stage, has evoked nostalgia among fans.
In her post, Kajol expressed gratitude for her journey, writing, “32 years to F and I’m thankful to say that I still have the same concerns and the same confidence #32yearsofbekhudi #thebeginning (sic).”
In a previous interview with Mid-Day, Kajol, who debuted at 18, mentioned that she was offered the role during a visit to photographer Gautam Rajadhyaksha’s studio, describing it as “a big dose of luck.” While the film was fortuitous for Kajol, Saif Ali Khan was removed from the project by director Rahul Rawail for being “unprofessional.” Saif, who later debuted with Yash Chopra’s Parampara, admitted in an interview with Mumbai Mirror that he struggled with expressions during a song shoot for Bekhudi, leading to his replacement.
During an appearance on Koffee With Karan alongside his mother, veteran actor Sharmila Tagore, Saif reminisced about being thrown out of Bekhudi. He acknowledged that Rawail might have found his attitude lacking in professionalism, despite Saif’s belief that he was committed.
