Japan Leads Medal Count as Records Shatter and New Champions Emerge at Paris Olympics

The battle for medals continues at the Paris Olympics, with Japan in first place with six gold medals, host France in second place with five gold medals, and China in third place with five gold medals.

On the third day, Korean players continued their supremacy in archery, Great Britain opened their gold medal account, German rider Michael Jung won his third Olympic gold medal, and set a new record in the equestrian event.

In the women’s 10m air rifle, Korea’s Bin Hyun won the gold medal, equaling the Olympic record with a score of 251 points. In the men’s 10m air rifle, China’s Sheng Lihao won gold, Sweden took silver, and Croatia claimed bronze. In the men’s diving 10m synchronized platform, China won gold, Great Britain silver, and Canada bronze.

Great Britain defended their title by winning gold in the equestrian team jumping event, marking their first gold medal at the Paris Olympics. Britain secured their second gold in the men’s cycling mountain bike cross-country event with Thomas Pidcock’s victory, while France won silver and South Africa bronze.

Germany’s Michael Jung won gold in the equestrian individual jumping final, becoming the first rider to win three Olympic gold medals.

The men’s team archery gold medal went to South Korea, who defeated hosts France by a score of 5-1, with Turkey winning the bronze medal.

Canada won their first gold in the women’s 57 kg judo event through Christa DeGucci, marking their first gold medal in judo in Olympic history, with Korea taking silver.

In men’s skateboarding, Japan’s Horigome Yuto won the gold medal, while the United States took the second and third positions.

Japan won the men’s team artistic gymnastics gold medal, China secured silver, and the United States took bronze. In the women’s 400m individual medley, Summer McIntosh of Canada won gold, with Katie Grimes and Emma Weyant of the United States winning silver and bronze respectively.

Romania’s David Popovici won gold in the men’s 200m freestyle swimming, Romania’s first gold medal at the Paris Olympics, with Britain’s Matthew Richards taking silver and America’s Luke Hobson taking bronze.

South Africa’s Tatjana Schoenmaker won gold in the women’s 100m breaststroke, China’s Tang Qianting won silver, and Ireland’s Mona McSharry won bronze. In the same event, France’s Sarah Belz won the silver medal.

The final gold medal of the day was decided in fencing, with Hong Kong’s Cheung Ka Long taking gold in the men’s individual foil bout and Italy’s Filippo Macchi taking silver.
