New Delhi: “Absence makes the heart grow fonder,” but “out of sight, out of mind” also holds true, says Fawad Khan with a touch of humor, addressing his absence from Indian screens. Fawad, who gained fame through Pakistani dramas and appeared in Hindi films like “Ae Dil Hai Mushkil” (2016), now stars in the supernatural show “Barzakh.”
“I’ve always been thankful to fans who waited and apologize for the delay, but it was out of my hands,” Fawad told PTI in a Zoom interview. He believes everything has its time and noted that both sayings about absence are true.
“Barzakh,” featuring his reunion with “Zindagi Gulzar Hai” co-star Sanam Saeed, began streaming on Zindagi’s YouTube channel and ZEE5. Fawad’s popularity has grown since viewers discovered him in shows like “Dastaan,” “Humsafar,” and “Zindagi Gulzar Hai.” His Bollywood career was promising but was hindered by India-Pakistan relations. Despite this, he continued with international projects and Pakistani shows and films.
Fawad mentioned that maintaining a prominent position has become more challenging in the age of social media. He is selective about his projects, and despite a brief hiatus due to the pandemic, he has resumed work more frequently.
His recent projects include “Ms. Marvel,” where he met Farhan Akhtar. Fawad praised “The Family Man” and mentioned catching up on Pakistani shows “Meray Paas Tum Ho” and “Khuda Aur Mohabbat.” He is excited about future collaborations and believes in the value of cultural exchange in the entertainment industry.
