A “possible cyberattack” led to widespread delays at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) on Saturday, as the Port of Seattle experienced an “internet and web systems outage.” The disruptions, which started early that morning, were attributed to a potential cyberattack targeting the Port’s systems.
“Earlier today, the Port of Seattle experienced system outages that suggest a potential cyberattack,” officials reported. “Critical systems were isolated, and efforts are underway to restore full service.”
By 8 p.m. ET, FlightAware reported 247 delayed flights and six cancellations at the airport.
SEA and the Port of Seattle continue to manage the outage, with no estimated timeline for the restoration of full service. Authorities and partners are working to assist travelers affected by the disruption.
Travelers were advised to check flight statuses with airlines, use mobile boarding passes, and check luggage through airline apps to expedite their journeys.
The Federal Aviation Administration declined to comment on the delays, referring inquiries to SEA officials.
