UNITED STATES – American Airlines has put several employees on leave after an incident in which black passengers were removed from a flight following a complaint about body odor.

Three passengers have filed a lawsuit alleging racial discrimination stemming from the January 5 incident.

CEO Robert Isom deemed the incident unacceptable and expressed disappointment in a memo to employees.

The airline stated that it is holding those involved accountable and is implementing initiatives to prevent similar occurrences, including forming an advisory group focused on improving black passenger experiences.
